On April 28, the Aktion Club held its final regular meeting before the summer break. Members enjoyed a hands-on activity making homemade butter—a fun and educational way to close out the season.
The club will gather one more time on May 13 for their annual end-of-year picnic, hosted at the home of Dee Ann Matheson. The picnic is a cherished tradition and a time to celebrate the accomplishments of the past year while looking forward to future activities.
April 19, 2025 – Russell Community Easter Egg Hunt
What a beautiful morning for the annual Russell Community Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by Russell Sunrise Kiwanis and Sunflower 4H!
A big thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, and community partners who helped make this event a success. We’re grateful for everyone who came out to enjoy the sunshine, fun, and festivities!
Russell Sunrise Kiwanis is proud to support Feed the Future with a donation to help combat food insecurity in our community.
Feed the Future plays a crucial role in ensuring children and families in Russell have access to nutritious meals. As part of our ongoing commitment to serving local youth, Kiwanis members came together to raise funds for this vital program.
We appreciate the dedication of Feed the Future volunteers and encourage the community to support their efforts. Together, we can make a lasting impact!

Please join us for the Russell Easter Egg Hunt. Please note that children up to 6th grade are included due to the changes in the schools this year. Many local businesses have donated this year and we appreciate and love the community support and spirit. Have your kiddos bring their big baskets to fill and get ready to meet the Easter Bunny!
The Russell Sunrise Kiwanis Club is dedicated to making a lasting difference in the lives of children in our community — and now, that commitment is secured for generations to come through the Kiwanis Legacy Fund.
Established with the Russell County Area Community Foundation (RCACF), this fund ensures ongoing support for local youth programs and initiatives. By partnering with RCACF, our club has created a permanent endowment that will grow over time, providing annual distributions to benefit children and families in need — helping fund events like the Jim Thoman Halloween Parade, Russell Easter Egg Hunt, and other Kiwanis-sponsored projects.
This legacy fund represents our unwavering mission: “Serving the children of the world”, starting right here in Russell.
How to Donate:
Want to be part of this lasting legacy? You can donate directly to the Kiwanis Legacy Fund through the Russell County Area Community Foundation. Visit RCACF’s donation page or contact RCACF at (785) 445-3611 to learn more.
Together, we’re building a brighter tomorrow — one child at a time.
