What We Do

Russell Sunrise Kiwanis actively supports several impactful projects within the Russell Community, fostering positive change and enhancing the well-being of our residents. These projects include:

1. School Supplies Initiative: We provide financial assistance to local schools, ensuring that students in need have access to essential school supplies.

2. Meals on Wheels in February: Our February initiative focuses on delivering nutritious meals to homebound individuals through Meals on Wheels. This effort not only addresses food security but also contributes to the overall well-being of vulnerable members of our community.

3. Bread for the Food Pantry: We contribute to the food pantry by covering the cost of bread supplies. This initiative aims to alleviate hunger and guarantee access to staple foods for individuals facing economic challenges.

4. Scout House Utilities Support: In collaboration with Russell Rotary Club and Russell VFW Post 6240, we fund the utilities for the Scout House. This joint effort ensures that the Scout House remains a functional and welcoming space for scouting activities, playing a vital role in the development of local youth.

5. Annual Jim Thoman Halloween Parade: We take the lead in organizing the Halloween Parade, encouraging both kids and adults to showcase their creativity by dressing up in costumes and parading down Main Street. At the conclusion of the event, treats are provided to all participants, creating a festive and enjoyable community experience.

6. Community Easter Egg Hunt in Collaboration with Sunflower 4-H Club: In partnership with the Sunflower 4-H Club, we organize the annual Community Easter Egg Hunt. This event caters to children from toddlers through fifth grade, with a special section designed for individuals with special needs of all ages. The aim is to bring joy and a sense of community to the Easter celebrations and fun for everyone involved.

7. Aktion Club in collaboration with DSNWK, for special needs adults aged 18 and above. Whether you reside in DSNWK houses in Russell or other housing in the surrounding community, our club is dedicated to fostering connection, growth, and fun in a supportive environment.

8. Russell County 4-H Pins: Annually, we cover the expenses associated with the Pins bestowed upon the County 4-H Club Members as a recognition of their accomplishments in their annual projects.
